Entry Requirements: GCSE 6 in Maths and Computer Science (or pre-assessment if no Computer Science GCSE)
This course develops students’ understanding of computing principles and problem-solving through programming. It covers key areas such as Computer Systems, Algorithms and Programming, and a Programming Project. Topics include data structures, software development, computer architecture, networks, databases, and the ethical impact of technology. The course emphasizes computational thinking, logic, and algorithmic design. Assessment includes two written exams and a non-exam assessment (NEA), where students design and develop a software solution to a real-world problem. The specification prepares students for further study and careers in computer science, software engineering, and related technological fields.
