The A Level Film Studies course explores a wide range of films to develop analytical, creative, and critical thinking skills. It comprises three components: Varieties of Film and Filmmaking, Global Filmmaking Perspectives, and Production. Students study films from Hollywood, contemporary American independent cinema, British and global contexts, as well as documentary and experimental works. Assessment includes two written exams (each worth 35%) and a non-examined production project (30%), where learners create a short film or screenplay with an evaluative analysis. The course encourages appreciation of film as an art form and its cultural, political, and historical significance.
