It includes three components: Appraising Music (written exam), Performance (solo and/or ensemble), and Composition (two pieces, one free and one to a brief). Students study Western classical tradition, popular and contemporary music, and music for media, theatre, and film. The course emphasizes musical analysis, creativity, and technical proficiency. Assessment combines practical and written elements, encouraging independent learning and critical listening. It prepares learners for further study or careers in music, performance, education, or the creative industries.
