Assessment:
60% Exams, 40% Coursework

The AQA GCE A-level Photography specification (7246) encourages students to explore photography as a creative and expressive medium. It covers a range of techniques including digital and traditional methods, with areas of study such as portraiture, landscape, documentary, experimental imagery, and moving image. Students develop skills in composition, lighting, editing, and visual storytelling. The course is assessed through a personal investigation (60%) and an externally set assignment (40%), both requiring a portfolio of practical work and written reflection. It fosters independent thinking, technical proficiency, and critical analysis, preparing students for further study or careers in visual arts and media.
