A-level Sociology explores how society operates and how individuals are shaped by social structures, processes, and issues. Students study key themes such as socialisation, culture, identity, inequality, and power. Core topics include Education, Families and Households, Crime and Deviance, and Beliefs in Society, alongside sociological theory and research methods. The course encourages critical thinking, analysis of contemporary issues, and evaluation of different sociological perspectives. Assessment is entirely exam-based, with three written papers testing knowledge, interpretation of data, and essay writing. It prepares students for further study and careers in social sciences and related fields.
