Teaching Academy

This professional academy allows opportunities for the development of knowledge and experience in the teaching profession to SM6 students. 

The programme is open to any sixth form students enrolled in SM6 who are considering a future career in teaching. Eligible students would be enrolled to a Level 3 programme of 3 A levels (or equivalents) and will run across two academic years (Years 12 and 13).

Through the Vantage North Humber Teacher Training (VNHTT) Hub, students with career aspirations in education will have the opportunity to undertake a range of experiences and opportunities that will allow them to appreciate what is entailed within the teaching profession, including:

• A range of introductory professional development workshops covering a variety of topics (cognitive science, safeguarding, professional expectations, etc.)
• Engagement with a range of education professionals
• Observations in a range of settings, including Early Years and Foundation, Primary and Secondary schools.
• Meaningful workplace experience
